Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the ancient healing art and science of using the essential oils of plants, flowers and herbs to soothe the body, mind and spirit. Essential oils are complex substances with many different properties; these essences are extracted from different parts of the plant and contain many beneficial properties which are used in Aromatherapy to increase vitality and health.
Reflexology
In the hands and feet, there are reflex areas corresponding to all the parts of the body and these areas are arranged in such a way as to form a map of the body. By having the whole body represented in the feet, this massage method offers a means of treating the whole body and of treating the body as a whole.
Reflexology does not claim to be a cure all, but numerous disorders have been treated with this method.
Most people find reflexology for the most part to be very relaxing; reflexology should not tickle as firm pressure is applied, neither should it be painful, your reflexologist will work within your comfort zone.
Supporting the Maternity Journey with Reflexology
Research Studies have shown that reflexology can be a powerful tool in helping expectant mums to be.
Benefits throughout the pregnancy can include:
-
Normalising high or low blood pressure
-
Reducing swelling in feet and ankles
-
Improved sleep quality
-
Clearing headaches
-
Improving blood flow throughout the whole body, helping both mother and baby
-
Can be used to initiate labour if overdue
Maternity reflexology can be started as soon as you like and aims to complement the care of midwives and doctors.
Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy massage is specifically designed for the needs of the pregnant woman. It is adapted from Swedish massage for pregnancy, so that expecting mothers can enjoy a relaxing massage as part of their pre-natal care.
It is recommended that women wait until their second trimester (after 12 weeks) before having any type of massage, they may then continue until the baby is due.
Additionally in the weeks and months following the birth, massage is a very pleasant way of helping the body recovers from the stress of pregnancy and delivery.
Testimonial
"I had massages with Debbie throughout my pregnancy as I suffered from back and neck ache. Debbie worked wonders with her great hands and massage experience.
Also having my massage carried out in my home was great and very convenient for me as I could book my appointments around my son’s naps.
At the end of my pregnancy I had a few sessions of reflexology with Debbie and I feel this helped my contractions to start.
Thank you Debbie for all your expert advice and fantastic massage."
